A specialized daycare is created by being sensitive to individuals with memory impairment. This single story daycare succeeds in creating a homey but supervisable environment. By using smaller building segments, the building’s exterior appearance is residential in character.

Daylighting the interior was one of many key environmentally sensitive features incorporated into the design. The setting is enhanced by large, naturally lit skylighted areas, and the use of traditional materials, such as simulated wood flooring. Input from several environmental gerontologists helped to make this project successful.
